Many observers in this season’s American Idol have noticed the boredomesome of the show. As the rating declines, the Idol tried to inject renowned artists every week. But it is still not bringing some juice.
It is accepted by the majority of the viewers that Simon Cowell is the main ingredient and without him there will be no American Idol. Fortunately for the show, Cowell has the unexpected humors in his making an analogy of the performance of each contestants. Heard like, “I heard that song in a karaoke bar…”, “You are giving injustice to the original singer…”
Well it may still be working now but I believe that we will see the death of American Idol in the next 2-3 years. Here are my few reasons.
1. American Idol has shown everything. There is nothing new. Week after week we heard Paula says, “I am proud of you”, “You are beautiful”, “You are fantastic”. What more can Paula say? And Randy Jackson has just been telling the truth about the singers. Before Randy and Simon have different judgment which make the viewers think who is telling the truth. Ryan Seacrest cracking of jokes is ineffective.
2. The talent is stretched out. There was a book entitled “The Death of Hockey” which analyzes one of the problem that hockey is no longer a fun to watch because of the low scoring. And the caused of the parched scoring is the adding of many teams year after year in the 90’s. This means the more teams exist, the players have to go to another team and the talent is widely distributed. So does American Idol. There is no more talent around.
3. The voting process. Sanjaya had come deep into the season without even that great talent. He couldn’t even pick the notes. Wouldn’t be better if one telephone line can vote 10 times only as the maximum?
4. A new show is coming. There will be a new show that will compete to AI and will dethron it as America’s number 1 show. Have you noticed “Dancing with Stars”? It is getting some of the time slot of AI.
I hope American Idol will continue but I believe it will become a closed book if Fox is not going to do something about it.

hello! thanks for droppin’ by my site. anyway, regarding this post, just like any other contests, it would make a HIT at first when it’s still new. As it continue every year, many people are already getting bored.

What about having a show with original songwriters and musicians rather than overhyped, talentless, vapid but pretty karaoke singers? Just a suggestion to the TV companies;-)
